Church Scriptures and Quotes From Leaders on the Ban on Blacks for the Priesthood/Temple Ordinances
The following is a small collection of quotes that highlight both the scriptures in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints along with the teachings of leaders regarding the curse of black skin. This collection does not dive into the curse of dark skin for Native Americans, which was taught as well through the Book of Mormon, and that is covered in much more depth in a blog post about the church’s Come Follow Me manual regarding dark skin. This collection focuses more on the church’s teachings towards African Americans and the priesthood ban that was alive for almost 150 years before being removed in 1978.
