- Facebook Support group. We wanted to start a group for people like us. In the spring of 2018 Crystal and I decided to leave the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We both served honorable LDS Missions and were faithful for 20 consecutive years of adulthood. Our goal is to help others like us. We want to change the perception around those who question or leave the church. We hope for people to not be afraid to follow their hearts and discover their own individual life purpose. There are great groups such as one on Reddit that allow people to be anonymous. We feel there is great power in owning your truth publicly. This is the courage group.Something we have noticed in many Ex Mormon groups is hatred, vulgarity, and retaliation. While this is understandable that people feel anger, we believe belligerence is not helpful. Our direction for this group is that it will be thoughtful, insightful, funny, accepting, but not vile or cruel. We are not Mormon anymore, but much of our family is. We still cling to many good principles and values that we no longer believe are exclusive to the Mormon Church. We want to be reasonably respectful of those people, we were once there and were easily offended too. For this reason, we will remove any vile or grossly disrespectful posts/pictures at our discretion. We are going to allow the fun stuff, but not the hateful/hurtful stuff. Our Admins will determine if something is over the top. If you see a post that offends you, please feel free to inquire about it. Please also be aware that we will not cater to those who are easily offended. We will do our best to consider both sides. We have become aware of so many wonderful, loving people who no longer believe, although some feel trapped. Our goal is to find many people who are just like us in that they believed with all their hearts and now are looking for truth and direction outside of Mormonism. We no longer choose to affiliate with any Organized Religion. We welcome all beliefs. We welcome those who do not believe in God as well as those who want to have religion in their lives. We welcome all who are sincere in their desire to help others who are questioning Mormonism. We welcome all who are looking for support for themselves. Culture, community, meaningful friendships, even family is what we desire. That is what we hope to nurture here. Each of us has one common bond, something that was part of our lives. This commonality can be a powerful force if used to uplift and enlighten. We welcome all who are sincerely questioning the faith or who are secretly out of the faith and those like us who have resigned from the faith. We want to make it socially acceptable to leave. Resigning will become a very normal thing in the coming years. We are not far off. We resigned and went public very soon after leaving in hopes to inspire others that they too can live their lives however they want to.The future is bright, life is beautiful. To Infinity and Beyond!
